Sarah Elliott has spent more than twenty years in the voluntary sector fighting social injustice. She became Chief Executive of Shelter in September 2025, arriving weeks before the Renters' Rights Act reached the statute book. Before that she led the National Council for Voluntary Organisations, and held senior roles at the Epilepsy Society and The Neurological Alliance. She is a trustee of the food poverty charity Trussell.
